Marukyu Koyamaen – Japanese Matcha Tea from Kyoto

This matcha tea is produced by Koyama-en in Kyoto. Koyama-en is one of the most prestigious tea makers in Japan, they have been producing matcha tea since the 17th Century. We import these teas directly from Kyoto.

Kinrin matcha tea (20g): One of the finest matcha teas currently available outside of Japan. Produced using only the tip of the tea leaf, this matcha has a fresh aroma with natural sweetness. A very elegant texture and taste.

Kitsho matcha tea (20g): A milder and gentler texture, perfect for everyday drinking whilst still providing a wonderful flavour and aroma. Our best-selling matcha tea.

Aoarashi matcha tea (40g): A sharper and slightly more bitter tea. Perfect for someone who likes spicy food and strong tastes. Great for matcha lattes.

How to Make Perfect Matcha:

We recommend you use not quite boiling water, around 80°C works well.

If you are using a chashaku (a Japanese bamboo teaspoon) we recommend 2 scoops, or 1 scoop from an ordinary teaspoon (approx. 1.5g)

  1. Add 2 scoops of matcha powder to your tea bowl or cup.
  2. Pour around 70ml of not quite boiling water into the tea bowl.
  3. Whisk the matcha with a chasen (Japanese bamboo whisk) or small whisk, for about 15 seconds until smooth and slightly foamy.
  4. Relax and enjoy!
