Meet Hobonichi Friend: Suzanne

At Nishura EAST, we love seeing how our customers bring their Hobonichi planners to life. For the fourth volume of our Hobonichi Stories 2026, we spoke with our lovely customer, Suzanne (on Instagram), to learn about her favorite features, tips, and creative ways of using the Hobonichi Techo.

Q1. How long have you been using a Hobonichi?

Since 2020

Q2. What are your favourite features of the Hobonichi?

Love the format of having yearly, monthly, weekly and daily all in one planner. Love the options of horizontal and vertical layouts available and the stunning cover designs also help

Q3. What pens do you usually use in your Hobonichi?

Uniball one, Tombow brush pens, fountain pens, energel clena and the new uniball Zento

Q4. Do you have any personal rules or habits when using your Hobonichi?

I usually keep the yearly, monthly and weeklies as planning and tracking where as the dailies are a mixture of whatever I need on the day. Journaling, morning pages, doodles, ink swatches, pen tests, lists

Q5. Do you have any tips or tricks to share with other Hobonichi users?

Don't be afraid to use pages as you want. Jot on them. Scribble leave it blank. Its your planner or notebook or journal. Enjoy it for what it is

Q6. Which Hobonichi format(s) do you prefer and why?

I love the hobonichi cousin and the weeks and I've used them the longest. I did switch the cousin for an A6 original last year and i do like the size but it doesn't have the weekly planner included.

Note from the Team

We love her energetic, colour-themed Hobonichi! We also agree that Hobonichi is perfect for both planning and journaling—thanks to its multiple formats in one planner. We admire that she is still trying different formats, like the A6, while continuing to enjoy her favourites. Exploring a new format is another journey you can enjoy!

Special thanks to Suzanne for sharing her Hobonichi Techo with us. We always love seeing how our customers use their Hobonichi planners. If you’d like to be part of this series, drop us a line at info@nishuraeast.com - we’d be delighted to hear from you.
