These three pencil boards―one for each Hobonichi Techo size―were born from a collaboration with the digital handheld pet Tamagotchi, which took the world by storm after its 1996 release. The Tamagotchi series continues to be loved across generations, and all three designs are based on the nostalgic illustrations made in the 90’s.
A6 (Original) - Blast Off to Outer Space!
Arranged with the UFO used in the toy’s packaging taking centre stage. The back has a yellow background with Tamagotchis printed in a colourful, cheerful design.
A5 (Cousin) - Tamagotchi Land
Printed with an illustration of this theme park filled with the charm of the Tamagotchi world from the 90’s. On the back, a Hyururun UFO is flying across a blue background.
Weeks - 90’s Tamagotchi
It looks like it was pasted all over with stickers from when the series first released. The back comes in a green shade and is printed with Tarakotchi’s daily routine.
No matter the size, there is always a sneaky Techotchi hiding somewhere in the design―have a look and see if you can find him! Look out for the charming pink beak that can hold a pen, and the small triangular and square feet.
The back has markings at 1mm intervals along the long edge, so it can also be used as a ruler.
The corner of the pencil boards include a "Today" tab, which will act as a bookmark to show which day you’re on if you put it between the pages of your techo.

Hobonichi Techo is one of Japan’s most treasured planner brands. The company was founded by the writer Shigesato Itoi in 1998, who set up a famous website - Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun – where he posted blog entries, articles, essays and interviews. In 2001 they decided to create the perfect planner, starting with just 12,000 copies. A business that has now grown to last year’s figure of nearly 750,000 planners! Find our more
