What is Hobonichi?
Hobonichi Techo is one of Japan’s most treasured planner brands. The company was founded by the writer Shigesato Itoi in 1998, who set up a famous website - Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun – where he posted blog entries, articles, essays and interviews. In 2001 they decided to create the perfect planner, starting with just 12,000 copies. A business that has now grown to last year’s figure of nearly 750,000 planners!

One Page Per Day: This is Hobonichi Techo's standard format, and is a versatile option offering maximum space, featuring a to-do list and a 24-hour timeline on graph paper. Perfect for detailed planning, journaling, and adding personal touches like photos or notes. Each page also includes a thoughtful quote for an extra spark of inspiration. Available for the Original, Cousin and HON series.
Weekly Horizontal: This layout allows you to plan your week on the left page, with the right page left open for journaling, sketching, or keeping your personal ideas. This format is available exclusively in the Weeks and Weeks MEGA series.
Monthly / Weekly Calendar: This format combines monthly calendars with a graph paper notebook. You have the freedom to write without being confined to dated pages. The Monthly Calendar is available in both the Original, Cousin, and HON series, while the Weekly Calendar is available only in Cousin and HON A5.
5-Year Techo: This unique format features one day per two-page spread, shown over five years. The left-hand page is dedicated to the date across each of the five years, allowing you to see how your life evolves over time.
What is a Hobonichi Cover?
A Hobonichi cover adds protection, functionality and personality to your planner, including technical features like pockets and bookmarks. Designed especially for the Hobonichi Techo planners, they include covers for the A6 (Original) and A5 (Cousin) sizes, and come in a whole variety of designs and styles. In fact each year Hobonichi collaborates with different designers and artists to produce the season’s unique covers. What is Hobonichi Techo HON?
Hobonichi HON is a fresh and exciting addition to the Hobonichi family, introduced in 2022. The name ‘HON’ means ‘book’ in Japanese, which perfectly captures the essence of this new style. The HON planners come with a built-in hardcover, giving them a sturdy and book-like feel that’s perfect for carrying with you wherever you go. Available in A6 and A5 sizes.
