minä perhonen creates timeless, all-original garment textiles that are specially dyed, embroidered, and woven to recreate hand-drawn designs.
This item is a reimagining of the popular 2014 Hobonichi Techo cover skyful. This time, the colour scheme was specifically created for the Hobonichi Techo cover, which depicts a sky full of stars made from colourful, brightly embroidered dots.
The base material is a soft cotton fabric. Two different types of thread were used for the embroidery, creating both a tactile, bumpy texture and a difference in lustre between the two.
About the Artist
minä perhonen is a brand created by designer Akira Minagawa. First founded in 1995 under the name minä, and renamed “minä perhonen” in 2003. In Finnish, “minä” means “I,” and “perhonen” means “butterfly,” expressing Minagawa’s hopes to create designs as light-hearted and beautiful as a butterfly’s flapping wings.
This is a cover only and does not include the Techo book. The book is available here.

About the brands / artists
Hobonichi Techo is one of Japan’s most treasured planner brands. The company was founded by the writer Shigesato Itoi in 1998, who set up a famous website - Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun – where he posted blog entries, articles, essays and interviews. In 2001 they decided to create the perfect planner, starting with just 12,000 copies. A business that has now grown to last year’s figure of nearly 750,000 planners! Find our more
